ERSA welcomes the latest Labour Market Statistics published today, in particular the positive news that unemployment – and long term unemployment – continues to fall, with more than a 25% reduction in long term unemployment over the last year.
This highlights the extraordinary work taking place every day at the frontline of the employment support sector. Through the Work Programme alone over 731,000 jobseekers have been supported to enter employment since the programme began.
Kirsty McHugh, ERSA Chief Executive says:
“Unemployment is decreasing across the board, particularly for the long term unemployed, for young people and for women – which is changing lives, families and communities across the UK. This is a testament to the hard work of jobseekers themselves, employers and the organisations that assist them in their journey into employment.”
