Philip struggled to find work in an area with few prospects for people over 50

• 61 year-old Phillip Ray from Havant struggled to find work for over two years, contending with the challenges of gaining employment in an area with few job prospects, especially for applicants over 50.
• He was referred to the charity Shaw Trust CDG by Jobcentre Plus.
• Shaw Trust helped Philip with his CV and supported him with applications and interview practice
• With support from the charity’s staff, Phillip found work as a cleaner at Portsmouth University (NVIRO Cleaning Company).
• Philip said: “Thanks to the support I received, I now work as a part-time cleaner at Portsmouth University. I really enjoy my job. Having sustainable income is always welcome and I appreciate being in work.
