In response to the announcement today from DWP on Work Programme contract termination, Kirsty McHugh, Chief Executive of ERSA, said:

“Work Programme providers have known from the outset that a contract could be terminated – this was always part of the programme’s design.  However, now that the decision has been taken, it is vital that the government gets the implementation right. This means clear communication to all parties, support for high performing subcontractors who might be impacted by a prime contractor losing their contract and a seamless transition for all jobseekers.  The outcome of contract termination must not be one of disruption, but of a better service for jobseekers. ERSA will be at hand to support any member organisation impacted by the termination, outside of any contractual discussions which may take place between DWP, Prime and Subcontractors.”
