ERSA welcomes the latest labour market statistics published today which sees the employment rate hit a record 74.2%, with 31.58 million people in work.

This impressive shift, has been supported by the work of the employment support sector who  through the Work Programme alone, have now helped over half a million jobseekers into sustained work and on the Work Choice programme have now helped 41,140 jobseekers with health and disability issues into work.

The effectiveness of the sector can further be seen on the frontline where statistics show that 7000 fewer people this year are being referred to training and employment schemes than the first three months of last year.

Kirsty McHugh, Chief Executive, ERSA, said:

“Latest employment figures continue to show the impact of government reforms, economic upturn, and crucially those agencies working to support the unemployed.”
