Latest Work Programme statistics show 786,000 jobseekers supported into work

Latest Work Programme statistics published by ERSA today show that, 786,000 individual jobseekers have now entered employment via the Work Programme from its inception in June 2011 to end March 2016.

This includes over 190,000 young people who have now found at least one job on the Work Programme and 49,356 jobseekers on Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) who have now gained work though the programme, many of which will never have received intensive, specialised support before. 

These statistics are published in advance of government Work Programme statistics due to be published tomorrow, which will show sustained jobs achieved on the programme over the same period.

“The Work Programme has had a phenomenal impact on the UK labour market, seen in the ever improving labour market statistics which show the employment rate at a record high and unemployment at the lowest rate for a decade.

The programme has succeeded in transforming hundreds of thousands of people’s lives, their communities and workforces across the UK, thanks to the hard work of employment support providers, employers and jobseekers themselves.
