The Prince’s Trust Tesco Youth Index report for 2021, based on a YouGov survey, takes an in-depth look into the views and outlooks of young people aged 16 to 25 during a time of unprecedented change. 

The 2021 Prince’s Trust Tesco Youth Index reveals almost three quarters of 16-25 year olds are optimistic theirs is the generation that can change the future for the better.

This year’s report highlights the “devasting toll” that covid-19 has had on the lives of 16-25 year olds and their mental wellbeing. Amid the throes of a global pandemic, young people, particularly those not in education, training or employment are concerned about not being able to find a career as well as increased competition in the job market. However, young people are more determined than ever to strive for a brighter and more secure future with 78% hopeful for a better year ahead.

The 2021 Prince’s Trust Tesco Youth Index, conducted by YouGov, gauges the happiness and confidence levels of young people across a range of areas – from working life to both physical and mental health.
