‘Changing lives through Employment, Education and Enterprise’ has been the empowering mission statement of Action West London (AWL) for more than 20 years. Their diverse and multilingual team of 10 operate across the seven West London boroughs providing support to participants seeking employment or training opportunities. AWL won the West London Business Award in 2019 for its engagement in the community and is an active member of key networks including Ealing and Hounslow Community Networks. AWL also works in conjunction with University College London to enable intern students from Florida State University to gain frontline experience working with vulnerable groups in the UK.

As part of its role, AWL provides end-to-end holistic support for unemployed people, as well as working with training providers and community networks to offer a range of development opportunities.
Their proactive response, increased capacity, job starts, and subsequent outcome performance was a significant factor in the WLTF contract being extended in 2019 for a further two years

As part of its role, AWL provides end-to-end holistic support for unemployed people, as well as working with training providers and community networks to offer a range of development opportunities.
Their proactive response, increased capacity, job starts, and subsequent outcome performance was a significant factor in the WLTF contract being extended in 2019 for a further two years.
Supporting customers is a team effort and although each participant has a dedicated advisor, clients also work with other staff members, attend job clubs and meet regularly with the employer engagement officer. Each client can be on the programme for up to 65 weeks.
External support services include ESOL classes as well as IT courses and the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and Security Industry Authority (SIA) training. Key to successful outcomes is identifying local job vacancies.
At the time of nomination, 977 people had started the WLTF programme and 288 had commenced work.
